The Parkville devils picked up another win for the season, this time against Big Blue 8 to 7. It was a very close contest with a one run lead going into the final inning. The bases were jammed and a change on the mound was call for by team Manager Phil Mazzeo. Max “Hammer Time” Obydennov was summoned to take control of the hill and get the devils out of this dilemma.

He was a bit nervous with the game at stake. He sized up the situation and went to work getting the top of the Big Blue lineup.  One by one they succumbed to Obydennov’s fury on the mound. One pitch after another dictated their doom. The three Big Blue batters went down like spring wheat and the Devils went home with the win. Edwin Lopez was a major factor in the Devil’s victory with a 1 for 2 game batting record including 2 RBIs. He also was able to swipe the plate and that’s awesome in my book. Second base for the Devils was covered by one of the top players in the division, Danny Caravello. He got plenty of attention making three outstanding plays while at hi position. He also stole 2 bags for the Devil’s cause.

The PYO Scorpions gave way to a Mankee victory in a high scoring 14 to 10 encounter. John Marano lead the hit parade with a triple and double driving in one run. He also studded his stuff swiping 2 bases. Dylan Csikortos stood tall on the Scorpion hill with 5K to his credit. Phil Scalici had two major hits that scored 2 big runs. The top player of the game was Willie Agrusa. 2 hits, 1 RBI and 2 stole bases. But most impressive was nailing 2 runners trying to steal a base. The best part of this story is the Scorpions were trailing 14 to 3 in the last inning. They had a 7 run rally to finish a respectable 13 to 13.
