After the Cyclones played against the Mankees, they did battle with the PYO Scorpions. Joe Sanci gave three outstanding innings on the hill to keep the Scorpion’s line-up off their guard. No one could touch his fastball down the middle. Noah Solano was tough as nails in the batter’s box. He whacked two pitches for base hits and drove in two runs. Peter Aporte is making a name for himself around the Parkville Complex. He’s the go to guy on the Cyclones team and received two RBIs to prove it.
The PYO Red Sox had a better showing when they faced off again with the PYO Nightmares. They re grouped and made a few positive adjustments that really paid off. Matthew “Sizzler” p Pfeifer kept the nightmares honest from behind the plate. Chris Piccoio stood tall in right field and backed up first & second without any problems. Ray Santiago was awesome at third. Nothing gets by him. Part of the offense that brought the Sox to an 8 all tie in the last inning was Steve O’Neil. He had two hits and drove three runs across the plate. Unfortunately, the 8 all tie didn’t last long. Division rules dictated a mound change after three innings and the Nightmares took full advantage of the new pitcher. They drove in the winning run and took home the bacon. The Sox couldn’t come back.
The PYO Devils dropped a 9 to 6 ballgame to the PYO Green machine. Despite the loss, some of the Devils were noticed doing outstanding jobs. Mike “Mad Dog” Mazzeo was fierce as a base runner. He swiped four bags during the melee and the Green Machine never came close to picking him off. Benny Basile went 1 for 2 with 2 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. You can always count on Basile to give 100%. Another Devil player that’s an all team player is Nick “The Rock” Ferrara. He went 1 for 2 with 1 RBI and stole 2 bases. This guy is best noted as a tough catcher. In a double header in the 2007 tournament, Ferrara went the distance with any relief. He’s got what it takes as an athlete and plenty of grit.
